rebuilding johnson county, together.

Johnson County residents affected by the summer 2024 wildfires may apply for the Johnson County Fire Relief Funds to be used for personal recovery efforts. These funds will be distributed in the spirit of the three pillars of Johnson County - animal husbandry, land stewardship, and economic vitality - and are intended to help individuals/families in areas such as fencing, pasture and habitat management, weed and pest control, infrastructure projects, and improving opportunities from lost income (in no particular order and not fully inclusive).

The first wave of applications opens on October 14 and closes on November 15, 2024. This fall 2024 application will focus primarily on serving recovery needs in the timeframe of immediate fire impact to spring 2025 calving/lambing. Another wave of applications will be available thereafter, contingent on funds raised and as affected families learn more about their longer-term needs. This fall 2024 application will also help the fund’s distribution committee determine whether you may be eligible for future assistance from earmarked dollars in special projects/programs from specific grants or funds raised.

This application will be submitted to the Johnson County Fire Relief Fund; A five-person subcommittee comprised of local Johnson County residents who have worked closely with the fire recovery process will review applications and distribute funds utilizing a pre-approved rubric. This process will be overseen by the Johnson County Communities Foundation, which is the 501c3 body in which donations were/are acquired and will be distributed.
